Easy, Breezy Guide to Hamptons Style
Like a breath of fresh air and the feeling of a sea breeze, but, for your home.
The Coastal or Hamptons style is as laid back as it is free-spirited, as open as it is crisp white and as luxurious as it is naturally textured.
If you’re lucky, there’s even water views!

Both Hamptons and Coastal style homes play tribute and take important cues from the surrounding environment – and they’re often overloaded with creamy neutrals and navy or grey accents.
If we look at a traditional Hamptons style (not only reserved for those living on Long Island, USA), you’ll find sash windows, shaker-style cabinetry, weatherboards, blue and white stripes, and a heavily navy, white, and grey palette.
A Hamptons home is no less luxurious than the wealthy part of the world they’re inspired by.
The sophisticated yet beachy vibe comes across as effortless and is made to feel luxurious with brass hardware, luscious linen sheers or plantation shutters and marble bench-tops.
The Hamptons style home dates to more than 200 years ago, where we witnessed a transformation from farmhouse to beach shack in ‘The Hampton’s’ as wealthy New Yorker’s sought refuge from a busy lifestyle. Whilst evolving through the years, the relaxed feel has been retained.
The more coastal looks finds its influence from the Spanish and Mediterranean style homes yet these abodes often are filed with white concrete, rattan furnishing and natural timbers.
What do they most have in common? Seaside-inspired homewares like Isabel’s Coastal Collection, natural fibres like linen and cotton and wicker furniture and light fittings.
Almost always, you’ll find a beautiful Faux Ruffled Clam in the entranceway on a timber sideboard or a beautiful textured coral on the coffee table.
We love the charming coastal styling in this Tamsin Johnson Designed home.
